"How to Interview Like a Complete Champion" with Shona Macdonald

In this episode, we talk about the holy grail of getting a job, the interview. First of all: if you have reached this stage, congratulations! You have muscled away the competition, beaten the CV hating algorithms pre-filtering ferociously before an actual person ever lays eyes on your application. You're a star. Now bring it home. Here to show us how to do just that is Shona Macdonald, recruiter, mentor and scottish accent wonder. Shona has seen countless applicants, from career starters to Senior Vice Presidents or large corporations, through the thicket of the recruitment process, and today, exclusively on HIGHER!, has agreed to share her magics with us.

Interviewing comes easy to some, often more extroverted energy profiles, and is the stuff of nightmares for others. Yet no matter who you are and even considering that every interview situation is unique, there are things that near all recruiters listen for when they sit in front of you. As per usual, it's not what you'd expect:

- Recruiters are your friend, not your enemy. Leverage them!

- The negotiation doesn't start after the interview, it starts with the first exchange of emails. Have a plan!

- Recruiters don't look for fit, they look for what cultural contribution you can make. Be yourself!

Let's go get it!
