My Entrepreneurial Experience

Building my own businesses has been one of the great accomplishments of my career to date. The tenacity it took, the sectors I could brush up against and the skills I could pick up and hone along the way very much feel like my own little tailor-made MBA (with a Communications major, I might add). More importantly, I discovered an unexpected joy residing in this line of work, other than the personal freedom and geographic mobility I sought initially. While I worked with my clients to develop their business through brand building or social media management, what I really got to do was package and share their dreams and aspirations in ways that allowed others to dream along with them. My heart beats for this mission and is very much fuelled by a quote from Howard Thurman: “Don't ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive.”
